Biography of Sherman Potvin
Founder of Luxury Fractional Guide
I was first introduced to the fractional interest concept at Killington,
Vt., in the early 1990s. I joined a sales team
being assembled to sell quarter fractions at the new
Killington Grand Hotel. Even though the concept was new
back then, the combination of a ski-in, ski-out location
with many great amenities at one quarter of the full
price was too good to pass up for many people. The project
was a huge success and I was hooked on a new real estate
concept, after spending 30 years selling normal, whole-ownership
real estate.
Eventually, while continuing in the business
and working for other "brand names" such as Intrawest
and The Ritz Carlton Club, I became a fractional
consultant. I specialized in the sales and marketing
side of the business and guided others in practicing the highly successful "relationship
sales" technique.
This approach is simply to establish a solid relationship
with your prospective owners — never applying any sales pressure,
and answering all of their questions clearly and completely.
As the industry flourished, I recognized a need for a website
listing all of the fractionals in the world
so that consumers can view their locations and compare
their amenities. A place where they can gain an objective
understanding of fractional ownership and what options
exist. I created Luxury Fractional Guide to fulfill that
need. Our goal is to empower consumers, enabling them
to ask intelligent questions and make informed decisions. In 2006 I
published my first book "Fractionalize to Maximize:
Dividing Your Vacation Home Into Profit".
