Early September 2007 The Vanderbilt Residence Club
Newport, Rhode Island
Dear Jill,
In this issue we feature the Vanderbilt Residence Club, set in the historic seaport of Newport, Rhode Island. Exclusive and romantic, Newport has been the playground of the rich and famous for years, and now you have the chance to make it your playground too.
The Location
  Main Entrance
Best known for its miles of scenic coastline, quaint wharves and cobblestone streets, Newport promises a vacation getaway like none other. During the day you can stroll the Cliff Walk and tour some of Newport's opulent historic mansions, head to the beach for some sun and surf, or browse hundreds of unique shops and galleries.

At the end of the day, participate in a wine tasting at one of the three local vineyards before enjoying a memorable dining experience at one of the many waterfront restaurants on Bowen's or Bannister's Wharf. And with a year-round calendar of events ranging from music festivals and nautical events to professional sports tournaments, there's always something to do.

The Property
  Patio Gardens
Originally built as a summer residence by Alfred G. Vanderbilt in 1909, this grand "summer cottage" was later christened as The Newport Men's Social Club by Vanderbilt in memory of his father. Today, the newly renovated Vanderbilt Residence Club is a luxurious second home alternative with the service and style of a four-star hotel. Here you can live like a King and be pampered like a Queen. Centrally located in the heart of Newport, everything is a stroll from the Vanderbilt Residence Club. Walking through history starts at the front door and continues in all directions including onto world-famous Bellevue Avenue where the town's social elite laid their concrete claims to fame with magnificent mansions.

The harbor is seen in all of its beauty from several locations including the Rooftop Terrace where owners can enjoy their meals. The ground floor is home to an intimate theater, available for small conferences or to watch movies if there is inclement weather. There is also a fitness center, a spa with two treatment rooms, a robe lounge for relaxation or private yoga instruction, men's and women's areas with steam rooms, a sauna and a 50-foot indoor swimming pool.

The Residence
  Kitchen
The 32-room mansion consists of studios and junior, one-, two- and three-bedroom suites. All of the amenities of a modern home are available with LCD flat screen televisions in the lounge and sleeping areas, wireless Internet, and IPod docking stations. Suites also come equipped with a sink, small refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. Enjoy relaxed en-suite dining before retiring for the evening on the plush pillow-top mattresses encased in luxury bedding with Egyptian cotton linens.

Your residence at the Vanderbilt Residence Club also features dedicated concierge services, local transportation via club car, valet and on-site parking, daily housekeeping, and nightly turndown service. Twice daily room service is also available.

Vanderbilt's Polo Lounge Bar and Restaurant gives you the choice of several dining options from the paneled dining room with fireplace to the conservatory or garden courtyard. We offer an array of specialties from sushi, a fabulous Sunday Brunch and our famous Vanderbilt potato chips. Vanderbilt Members also enjoy reserved seating at the International Polo Series June through September.

The Opportunity
  Rooftop Terrace
There are 32 different options to choose from, ranging from a 282 square foot pied-a-terre available at $45,000 to a 984 square foot two- bedroom, with den, full kitchen and 1.5 baths at $225,000. Members are deeded title to a 1/8th interest, unit specific, which allows six weeks or 42 days of guaranteed usage each year by the owners or their guests. There are eight members per unit, unless an owner doubles their interest and doubles their time.
