What is a destination club?
A destination club is a form of fractional ownership, where owners own a share of real estate in a resort. The club refers to the fact that you are joining a club of owners, and have “exclusive access” to the club amenities – such as tennis, beach access, spa, golf, and so on.
By purchasing a destination club you become a club member and real estate owner. Destination clubs are an informal title given to a resort for marketing purposes. Many high-end resorts sell fractional ownership but do not refer to “destination club” in their title – however, in effect, they do fit the description of a destination club.
What is a private residence club?
A Private Residence Club is the ultra-luxury version of a destination club. Ragatz & Associates label resorts that sell fractional ownership at greater than $1000/sq. ft as a Private Residence Club. These resorts usually have large residences (over 2000 sq. ft), higher annual fees, and very tailored amenities such as golf membership.
