A new fractional project is underway in Key Largo: the Karina Bay Resort. Scheduled for completion in 2009, Karina Bay promises to deliver everything from a Tiki Bar to gourmet restaurant to a private beach with boat slips. 19 residences are currently underway.
(February 27, 2008) KEY LARGO, Fla. – A new standard of luxury and personal service is coming to Key Largo. Karina Bay Resort & Marina will feature exclusive, luxurious beachfront homes for discerning buyers.
This fractional resort development includes 16 bay front condominiums and three bay front villas. It will be located at 107900 Overseas Highway, where Gilbert’s Resort is currently located.
“We’re giving the place a first-class face lift. This area is so spectacular that we’re rebuilding to match the beauty of the environment,” says Karina Schaupp. She and her husband, Reinhard, have owned Gilbert’s Resort for 10 years. “We’re not changing what works, though. We’ll still serve the best fish sandwiches in The Keys.”
The four-acre property will include a magnificent pool and fountain, private beach and 38 deep-water slips with direct access to the Florida Bay and Atlantic Ocean. There will also be a Tiki bar with live entertainment, a gourmet restaurant and a fully equipped fitness center with a waterfront view.
“Karina Bay is designed to indulge and pamper our owners,” Schaupp says. “In addition to an impressive list of concierge services, we have a million dollars worth of top-of-the-line Hydro Sport Boats and a fleet of jet airplanes that can pick up residents anywhere in the world. Our primary goal is to make sure that when owners are here, they will be in paradise.”
Renowned Florida Keys architectural designer David deHaas designed these spacious condominiums. His architecturally rich exteriors give way to open interior spaces that are modern and bright. In addition to opulent furnishings and state-of-the-art electronics, each home features a balcony with a custom-designed infinity-edge spa pool and “Smart Home Design,” with a fingertouch security system and environmental and lighting controls. The residences are selling for one-tenth fractional ownerships
Karina Resort is selling its units now and will be operating next year. “Fractional ownership takes the ebb and flow out of the seasons,” Schaupp says. “The resort will also help the area because it will be filled with owners year-round.”
