We interviewed Tim Gesner, President of E3Escapes, the world’s first Ultra-Luxury “3-Dimensional” Fractional Home Ownership program in Cabo San Lucas Mexico, about how NASCAR Champion Rusty Wallace became their newest owner and Global Ambassador.

A Racing Legend

Whether you follow NASCAR or not, it is no secret that Rusty Wallace is the personification of a true winner, both on the track and off. Over a twenty-year NASCAR career, millions of fans will always remember the fiery Wallace for winning 55 races (eighth all time) and the 1989 season championship in what is now the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Wallace, now also a Nationwide Series car owner, was selected in 1999 as one of NASCAR’s 50 Greatest Drivers. And most recently in 2010, Rusty was also inducted into the National Motorsports Press Association’s (NMPA) Hall of Fame.

Just another Flight Home from Cabo… Or Was It?

It was a chance meeting that led to Rusty discovering the fractional ownership concept. Gesner was on a flight home from Cabo and he never missed the opportunity to do his “two minute elevator speech” to the person sitting next to him about E3Escapes, his innovative fractional program.  On this trip, he had the good fortune to be sitting next to the head of Business Development for Rusty Wallace Racing. Why Fractional and Why Cabo?

According to Gesner, Rusty felt that with his fast-paced lifestyle and grueling work schedule, the idea of owning a whole-ownership vacation home just didn’t make sense. When asked why he chose the E3Escapes fractional model Rusty said “How many weeks will someone really use this? I’ll bet you’ll tell me 4 to 6 weeks…so to sit there and think that you can own your own home and use the heck out of it is ridiculous.”

During Rusty’s twenty years of racing, he would give back to his fans by hosting annual Rusty Wallace themed “Fan Appreciation Cruises” and one of his favorite stops was always Cabo San Lucas. Over the years he kept coming back to enjoy the golf, fishing, and — most importantly — quality time with his family. Now an ABC/ESPN Commentator and Analyst, Rusty still spends a major portion of every year on the road contributing to the sport he loves.
